The new SCF-funded report on #OceanicSharkStatus – ‘Half a Century of Global Decline in Oceanic Sharks and Rays’ – is a must-read analysis that serves as a wake-up call, and highlights the need for urgent conservation action across the globe.

The study, a collaboration of @shark_specialist_group, @sfuscience, @jamescookuniversity & @georgiaaquarium, assesses the extinction risk for sharks, rays and chimaeras, documenting an alarming, ongoing, global decline of oceanic shark and ray species over the past 50 years, primarily due to overfishing.
