Savonala "Savi" Horne is a leading advocate for minority landowners and financially distressed farmers who work to preserve their farms, homes, land, and rural livelihoods. As Executive Director of the Land Loss Prevention Project in North Carolina, she helps to provide free legal and technical assistance while also providing strategic guidance in litigation involving discrimination in the agricultural and environmental arenas. In the 2007-08 U.S. Farm Bill, Horne advocated for the development and coordination of minority and limited-resource farmers' and farmworkers' interests. Without Horne, socially disadvantaged farmers (particularly farmers of color) wouldn't be connected to the resources they need.
