If we’ll explain Russian mentality in one phrase and using special words- Russians are social-conservative way of thinking people with traditional (even religious) values. And i can say - that’s true. But i wanna tell you, why there are so many people like me, who think completely different way. It’s a huge difference between people who born after 1991 and previous generations. Most of conservative people born in USSR, so they never had any freedom and human rights as a privilege. Also propaganda worked on party, so most of people have never seen any other ideology. Of course, most of people who had born after 1970s feeling more free than people from before, but still. This huge difference of “Russians” and “soviets” been way much deeper. We feel and think completely different way, it’s more than just “another generation” difference. I can say - we became another nation. For example, my passport “origin” is Russia, but my parents are “USSR origin”. And it’s true. And that’s the thing. Historically Russia is a European western society. The closest to it. But because of our government historically situation was far from friendship with Europe and West. But (!) there are good news!  My generation 1996th date of birth were growing up in a really interesting society. 90s in Russia was the time of “western freedom”, so many crisis periods, but also experimental. First time historically Russia got a freedom after imperial times and communism one. And children from my childhood (and me as well) were watching Nickelodeon, so many TV resources from American and Europe. We had international stuff around , we saw black people and gay people around since we were young. And even most pf old people looked wild on liberals, the main thing was - we got internet with all that western culture. We had McDonalds, KFC, so many imported products.
