Day 2: It’s Dr. Kwandaa Roberts from @tinyhousecalls back for the second day of my Design Sponge takeover. I hope you guys are having as much fun as I am.

One of the most common complaints I hear about dollhousing is that it can be an expensive hobby. But it doesn’t HAVE to be. If you are willing to make some (or all) of the items yourself, you can furnish a house pretty cheaply, and your imagination will be your only limit. I got this little barn from a neighbor for free. My goal was to spend as little as possible making it over. The kitchen cabinets were made from one piece of foam board, covered with construction paper and sealed with Modge Podge, all from the dollar store. The chandelier is a revamped candle stick holder. I made the bed from popsicle sticks, and free fabric samples. The chairs were my only splurge and I’ve used them in several houses.

I’ll be sharing tips on what you need to get started with dollhousing and how to make some of my favorite minis today in the stories. Come and join me!
