宝石をジュエリーへ仕立てるためにまず行うのが、デザインのラフスケッチです。
頭の中に浮かぶデザインを、水彩と墨インクによるドローイングに具現化していきます。
この工程により、宝石がジュエリーに仕上がったときのイメージを鮮明に確認することができます。
光を当てた時の表情はどうか、宝石を留める際の台座の高さや、その他のパーツとのバランスなどを考えながら、実際のルースを手元に置いて考えます。
周囲の宝石の大きさも、バランスを見る上では大変重要なポイントです。
0.1mmの大きさの違いを常に意識しながら、配置をしていきます。
こうしたラフデザインが出来上がると、それぞれの部位の高さや厚みをどのくらいにするか、宝石の特性を踏まえつつ、実際の数値を細かく書き込んでいきます。

The designs that come to my mind are embodied in watercolor and ink drawings.
This process allows me to see clearly the image of the jewelry finished.
With a loose stone in hand, I think about how it will look in the light, the height of the stone mount, and the balance with the other parts.
The size of the gems set around it is also very important to find the best balance.
I always consider the difference in 0.1mm while arranging them.
Once these rough designs are completed, the actual figures for the height and thickness of each part are written in detail, taking into account the characteristics of the gemstone.
