アメリカの経済キャスター　エミリーチャンがシリコンバレーの男女差別の実態を書いた一冊。
最先端に見えるアメリカ シリコンバレーでの激しい女性差別に、大きな衝撃を覚えました。

熱湯風呂耐久レースで10時間以上耐えて資金調達を勝ち取ったUber 創業者。こんなレース、女性はとてもでないけど参加できないですよね。。Google本社でさえ、上司からのリアルなセクハラを強要されている様子など、もしかしたら日本以上に性差別が酷いのかもと思ってしまうような衝撃的な内容でした。
今後の人類の将来を変えるハイテク企業が全て男性によって意思決定されてしまう、という世界を想像するとなんだか心配。

日本でも森喜朗会長の発言を巡って大きな論争になっていますが、「ああいう人って日本中にいるよね」と思ってる人多いのでは。森会長だけを叩いてやり玉に上げるのはなんか違う、と思ってしまうのは私だけでしょうか。

さりとて、世界がゆっくり変わる移行期間中の現代、すぐに変わるはずもなく。総合商社と放送局という、かなり日本らしい男性社会の企業に身を置いてきて、悲しい思いや悔しい思いも沢山してきました。
そんな世の中を声高に反対や批判するわけでもなく、私は私が生きる時代を見つめながら、その中で自分がありたい女性像に忠実に生きていたいなぁと思います。
色々あっても、女でいることってやっぱり本当に楽しい😊

それにしても著者エミリーは4人の男の子を育てなながら、毎日の生放送がありながらも取材を重ねてこの本を書き上げたなんて、、、信じられません。すごい。

‘Silicon Valley is a modern utopia where anyone can change the world. Unless you’re a woman.’ Brotopia written by Emily Chang convinced me this shocking review.

Silicon Valley seemed to be a cutting edge most modern place on this planet to me but maybe that was just a fantasy. Uber founder spent more than 10hours in a hot tub to earn funding. Female associate have to struggle with serious sexual harassment to survive even at Google headquarter. Lots of episodes convinced me that the gender gap in Silicon Valley might be much worse than that here in Japan.
I just even feel fear with the fact that the place where technology changing the future of human being is dominated by male and all the decisions are made by men.

Huge discussion came up with the sexist remarks by Mr.Mori, the Head of the Tokyo Olympics organizing committee. He said "If we increase the number of female board members, we have to make sure their speaking time is restricted somewhat, they have difficulty finishing, which is annoying’’

Well..... this is just the way we are. These guys are everywhere in this country.....it’s not just about him I think.......😞
