I remember the advice of my teachers and mentors from school: “Mayela, work on your portfolio, build your website and let us know when you move to New York.” So I did, I worked and improved my portfolio. I used to work and study during the weeks and on Saturday mornings doing some brides. At the beginning, the photographers I was emailing to, didn’t wanted to work with me. But that didn’t stop me because I had my goal and vision clear. I never took those things personally because they also didn’t know my work and I didn’t have anything to show them as well (social media wasn’t a thing back then) - So then, I started doing many photoshoots with friends and used my sister as my model @dra.verovzz 😆I was persistant and later, I was able to work with great photographers who gave me the opportunity to work with them (will never forget those people) — One day after 5 years of working non stop, I was finally ready to move to New York, proud with my portfolio and my website. Now that I see back, those 5 years were just just the beginning of the real hustle 😂 but it was all worth it. — I share this because its important you know that good things, do take time, it’s hard, it’s stressful sometimes too. But as long as you have your goal and your vision clear (and make sure you have fun in the in-between) you must trust the process and always continue with faith that the best is yet to come. Goals, luck, success - all of that will find you, but only if you work for it.
