Two steps forward, one step back... one last surgery Friday 🤞🏼
As I get further down the line of my recovery, my capability to do more increases but my physiological capacity to do more without developing ancillary injuries like tendonitis in my hip flexors is frustratingly slower. It seems like there is this constant tug and pull between what I want to do (train my a** off and get back!) and what I responsibly can do (respect the healing process, conservatively push myself, rest, and have patience). The saying “a muerte,” a phrase that I have gone by in my past and that is common in the Spanish mentality of going hard in training and on rock, doesn’t apply when you are coming back from a series of really big surgeries. It’s a rollercoaster 🎢 of emotions when all you want to do is push yourself but when you do, your body gives you negative feedback like over-tightness, excessive stiffness, and pain, from overdoing it. I am still learning the balance and where I stand in this process. I couldn’t do it without my team. @wavetoolstherapy 🤍🙏🏼
