Narai-juku
(Shiojiri City)

The post town of Narai, called Narai-juku in Japanese, stands right in the middle of the Nakasendo Trail.

It is at the highest altitude of the 11 post towns in the Kiso Valley, and it prospered due to the many travelers who stayed here before climbing difficult Torii Pass.

Narai-juku looks almost exactly as it did during the Edo Period, captivating visitors with its traditional Japanese beauty.
