I struggle to find the words today. On this day in 1942, Executive Order 9066 was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt authorizing the incarceration of over 100,000 Japanese American people. As I hold onto small tokens and stories I have from my grandmother who was incarcerated during WWII, this day continues to hit me in the gut. In the words of my dear friend and community organizer @seanmiura “so many of us have come to understand this violence, visible and invisible, as part of the world we were born into and we know that we are making and speaking of a world that we are not in yet.” There is so much we have to do. So much we can fight for, for visibility, for change, and against the racist hate crimes that are once again happening in this country. Please continue to speak out.

Thank you to all the organizations that do the hard work to make sure we #neverforget. It will forever be my lifelong purpose to continue sharing their words and stories. ⁣#dayofremembrance (last slide written by Sean Miura please visit his page to read the whole piece.)
