It's nothing new to me, I even expected it after this glorious weekend, it's been a problem for years. And I know there are neither enough bins, nor enough well paid and well equipped cleaning personnel. And most people obviously consider trash "disposed" as long as it's placed "around" a bin, or in vicinity to other trash. And the food businesses doing takeout apparently also don't care a lot. Many of the boxes are easily identified, and I wouldn't consider this great PR. I have received hundreds of messages of people who are equally fed up, pics from other districts, other cities, other countries even. Most are just stunned, and some try to find the one person to blame. I think, it's not only the city council who has not really done something in the last years to manage the waste problem; it's also not just the lazy folks enjoying their pizza in the sun, only to leave their trash; it's not just the pandemic, it's obviously not the tourists; and it's also not just the food businesses, happy to sell their stuff no matter the package. It's all of these. And it will need all of these to change. If you can't find a bin, take it home. If you sell takeout, offer incentives to return / dispose the waste or bring your own boxes. And if you are the city council - how about taking care of this properly?!?! @herrmann.kreuzberg @f_schmidt_bb @michaelmueller.berlin PS: if you wanna do more - send your district administration an email, tweet to your local politicians, DM your district mayor. And download the Ordnungsamt app to report trash.」2月23日 1時01分 - stilinberlin
