メトロポリタン美術館さんのインスタグラム写真 - (メトロポリタン美術館Instagram)「At age 37, Horace Pippin—born February 22, 1888—began making art for the first time. ⁣⁣⁣ After serving in the 369th Infantry Regiment, the World War I veteran turned to art-making to heal his right shoulder—which had been injured in combat—as well as his spirit. At home in Philadelphia, Pippin began writing and illustrating memoirs of his combat experience. By the 1930s he was burning designs into wood panels and making highly original oil paintings that soon found ready audiences—so much so, that by his death in 1946, Pippin had mounted solo shows across the United States and sold most of his 130 or so paintings, wood panels, and drawings to museums and collectors across the country. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🎨 #HoracePippin (American, 1888–1946).
