Head into the studio and the splendor of the Galerie des Glaces in the @ChateauVersailles with artist @SilviaGiambrone as she creates and installs the series of sculptures specially commissioned by @MariaGraziaChiuri for the unveiling of the #DiorAW21 collection. With looking glasses possessing a powerful symbolism in the kind of fairy tales and fables that inspired the collection, the historic hall's magnificent mirrors were joined by the artist's own interpretations. With wax and enormous thorns, they are not intended for admiring one's reflection, but instead for contemplating identity and the dichotomy of beauty and conflict as embodied by the setting, an unabashed temple to patriarchal power. The Creative Director said she was drawn to the work as it captures women's difficult relationships with their own reflections, being attracted by mirrors and disdainful of the reality being reflected back.
