Clinicians working with individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease have noted changes in mood and declines in cognition. While vaccinations have allowed residents to reunite with their families, some states, like New Mexico, have set guidelines that encourage outdoor and scheduled visitation only. In New Mexico, 4,264 long-term care residents contracted Covid-19 and 997 died from the virus since March 2020.
