On June 19, 2021, a female red panda at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding safely gave birth to four cubs. According to the records of the base, it’s the second time that a red panda has given birth to quadruplets. The four newborn cubs and their mother are currently healthy, and all the cubs can have breast milk by themselves. The Chengdu panda base has successfully bred 18 red panda cubs in 2021. Up to now, the number of red pandas at the base has reached 163, which is the largest captive red panda population in the world.
