I can’t even begin to explain the magical journey we experienced together in the last 4 years when she was rescued from an abusive situation. She had absolutely lost all faith in humans. I can’t hold back the tears in my eyes and the heartache I feel is beyond anything I’ve experienced before. In the last year, I’ve lost 4 pets all entirely unexpected, but this one is different. Juliette wasn’t just a pet to me, Juliette wasn’t just an animal to me… Juliette was a person to me. Juliette was my best friend. Juliette, you taught me patience and that forgiveness is key. You loved me and you chose me even after every human before me betrayed you and treated you terribly. All Juliette had wanted her entire life was a family. A place she could call home and a human she could trust. Michael and I loved her with all her hearts. Juliette was our daughter. My life is centered around my horses. I don’t really have any human friends, primarily because I chose and continue to choose the company of my horses over humans everyday of my life. I wish I could write something eloquent, something beautiful and something meaningful that would help the world understand what a loss I am feeling at this very moment, but I can’t because truly, there are no words to describe Juliette unless you were ever blessed to experience the love I experience from her. Today, I had to make the toughest decision of my life. Today I had to put my selfishness aside and realize, Juliette deserves happiness. Juliette deserves peace. She does not deserve to suffer and unfortunately, the damage to her tendons due to the rigorous infection were beyond repair. I’m going to miss her velvet kisses, her muffled sub woofer whenever she greeted me, her endless hugs and how she followed me around like a shadow. Juliette was my right hand and Virgil is my left… but now it’s time for Virgil, Michael and myself to re-adjust to life without Juliette and allow Juliette to cross the rainbow bridge because she deserves this peace.
