I’m sitting backstage as I’m writing this. Right now, a few meters away from me, under the Circus Knie’s famous red and white tent, the show is on. I can hear the crowd going absolutely nuts, one of the motorcycles freestyles guy probably just landed a backflip. We’re in Lugano, the audience is loving it, it’s been two years since they last saw a show! When we started in July last year, there was a multitude of questions going thru my head. Such as; how long are we gonna be able to perform before another lockdown? Are people gonna show up? How will my voice react to so many shows? Will they like me?
After seeing the first few rehearsals most of the artistic questions I’d ask myself found an answer; this show was something that’s never been done before and it rocks.
Seven months, ten cities, two hundred shows, five hundred thousand people later i still think the same, this show rocks!!
Thank you circus Knie for having me as a headliner this year, thank you for proving to everybody out there that culture is not dead, and that it is possible to play shows in a safe environment. Thank you for your friendship, creativity, determination and courage. There are now only few shows left before this all turns into memories and stories we’ll be telling for years.
