Pec-slapping is probably not as coveted as breaching or lunge feeding, but I love it all the same! Watching humpback whales use their elongated fins, (which are actually the longest appendage in the world) to slap the water is incredibly fun! Weighing around 1.5 tons each, these pectoral fins pack a lot of punch when hitting the water, which is probably a great way at communicating with other nearby whales.
