It's crazy to think how fast these "bank runs" can be, but Silicon Valley Bank went from $200+ billion to failure in just 48 hours last week so I just hope the US government does the right thing at their emergency meeting tomorrow and bails out all the uninsured depositors who have more than $250k in their accounts (accounts up to $250k are covered by FDIC insurance). While $250k in an account sounds like a lot, 97%+ of Silicon Valley Bank customers had more than that as they are business accounts and since that bank went bust now all of Silicon Valley is worried about even being able to pay payroll next week -- even giant companies like Etsy have stopped paying sellers already! So, if the government doesn't act RIGHT AWAY, there will be more runs on more banks and lots of businesses are going to fail and this situation could blow up the entire US economy...VERY SCARY!
