Today is World Water Day, held on March 22 every year since 1993, celebrating water and raising awareness of the 2 billion people living without access to safe water. I would like to focus on the the Mekong River which is facing an uncertain future.
The river and the people that rely on it are in crisis, facing the impact of climate change, extreme weather conditions, hydropower, overfishing, pollution and dam constructions upstream. Here are some scenes from the early 90’s when the river was healthy and peace reigned in a region which had suffered mostly man made disasters from decades of war. #mekong #mekongriver #cambodia
