And to be invited to do so alongside a coalition of brands, led by @mejuri, for #AYearOfAction? A dream come true. When I started my career, I heard a lot of “stay in your lane.” Actors? Brands? “You just CAN’T get political.” Well the fallacy of that logic is that politics produce policy, and policy is PERSONAL. Universal. In every single “lane.” Policy governs how we survive, and if we thrive. Policy affects our lives, our businesses, and our futures. It’s for all of us. And if you “don’t do politics?” Well my dears … politics does you. It’s currently doing all of us. Our communities. Our economy. Our potential. And that’s why I’m in awe of Noura and her company. They are leading 800 brands (and counting!) that are taking a stand and making it very clear that they support women. Because they know their economic power. See, our autonomy is not only a personal issue, it’s an economic issue. Enabling us to plan our families and participate in the workforce enables the entire country to benefit. And it’s time for each and every person with a platform — be it a show, a business, a company, a classroom, or your family’s ear at the dinner table — to use it for our collective good.
