I still have days when I’m crying on the bedroom floor. But I’m not alone anymore. Nothing can shake you when your spirit is equipped with the perfect love that can only come from knowing Jesus. He died for me so he could live within me. Within you. Within all of us. God gives us the free will to decide whether we invite him in. But when you ask for him, he’s there 🥹 The structure of my happiness was once built on emotions, people, and other worldly things—and it came crashing down. But guess what? As one of my favorite pastors likes to say, my biggest setback led me to my greatest comeback. Today I have an unshakable foundation that is built on God, his perfect love, and my relationship with him. One of my favorite Bible passages reminds me of the life I have now versus the one I was living before. Jesus says, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24) I know a lot of people in our world today think they don’t need God. Or they’re disappointed with people who say they follow God but who are hurtful or hypocritical. I get it. I really do. But God is bigger than the failures of people. He’s bigger than bigotry, deception, and insincerity. I boldly share this because I can see how God uses unique people to draw us closer to him. He doesn’t pick favorites or make you audition. He wants you to come exactly as you are. You can embrace and celebrate your earthly heritage while living your eternal one. Know that he so badly wants to walk through challenges with you. He wants to carry you on his shoulders instead of you carrying so many burdens on yours. Let him lift the weight of your pain, heartache, grief, fear, anxiety, depression, doubt, and insecurity.
