Our cast enjoyed the biggest lovefest which doesn’t always go along with mutual respect. You pray for mutual respect and a common work ethic, but this show was enchanted. We became a real family. We were in our 3rd week of rehearsal when the pandemic hit NYC. Our show was shut down, along with all of Broadway, without knowing if there would ever be a second chance. 2 years later the wonderful team at @roundaboutnyc made our dreams come true and said ,We’re going back to the boards!.” Sadly many shows were not that lucky. Our opening was memorable not only because the audience was filled with friends, and family, but because 30 seconds after our final bow, a pot hole blew up right outside our theatre . It was terrifying and traumatic. Not knowing if there was a shooter outside. Thank G-d(ess) we learned that a gas leak caused not 1 but 3 potholes to explode up into the air. All of the streets surrounding our theatre was closed off by police. Thank goodness no one was seriously hurt, but everyone was shaken up. We never had an opening night party, but we as a cast and crew came together, in gratitude and pride, for Noah Haidle’s transportive, magical play. One year ago. Tonight.
