I met him over 20 years ago before I moved to LA and when I finally took that leap of faith and moved here, I knew I would be safe with P in my corner. He looked out for me. He guided me. He was there for me when literally no one else was. I knew that no matter what happened, no matter how hard things got, Peanut was close by ready to take care of me. I always knew that even though I was more than 2000 miles away from my family, I had a big brother in LA by my side. He never asked me for anything but my love in return. Losing him was sudden and shocking. I’m still unpacking the loss of him and what that means for his family. Especially his daughter. I was going to keep P’s loss to myself and my loved ones…but on the day he left us, a small bird appeared at my window and tried repeatedly to enter the house. We thought it was strange but assumed he would move on. He hasn’t. Every day, all day since the day Peanut left us, he has moved to another window trying to peck his way inside through our window. I finally googled what a bird trying to get into your house meant….death at your doorstep….your guardian angel trying to get your attention….and I knew instantly that it was Peanut telling me he is here. He will always be here looking over me, just as he always has been. I love you, P. I will love you forever and be grateful for everything you did for me.
