When Gisele Fetterman’s husband, Sen. John Fetterman, checked into Walter Reed to seek treatment for clinical depression in February, “vicious attacks” started pouring in. But Gisele was surprised to find that the “vast majority of harassment” wasn’t directed toward the senator—but at her. “On social media, people accused me of kidnapping the kids and running away to Canada,” @gfett wrote in an op-ed for @ELLE Magazine. “They promoted conspiracy theories claiming I was an ambitious, power hungry wife, secretly plotting to fill his Senate seat. It was all so wildly preposterous.” Now, as John officially returns to the Senate this week, we’re revisiting Gisele’s words: “Try as we may, we can’t fight fire with fire.
