Todd was the inspired and inspiring leader of the Roundabout Theatre which he ran for 40 years, transforming it from a struggling off Broadway company to a major NYC theatrical institution and home for so many of us theatre folk He produced two plays I had the joy of working for him on — The Women and Distracted — so I got to see his magic up close. Todd paired the world’s sweetest demeanor with a killer sense of what to produce and when and how to produce it. He was soft-spoken but direct. He remembered everyone and treated all of us onstage, backstage and in the Roundabout’s offices with such warmth and respect.
