These videos always spark some concern, about choking.
If you watch in the beginning, Komtus teeth are clearly visible, way in the back there, that’s where he chews his food.
His throat are even further down, and he’s able to seal it off kinda.
You can also see he’s perfectly capable of moving the watermelon to the side, with his powerful tongue, placing it perfectly, so his row of molars, can crunch it up😊
Mette the other hippo in the video, is way more enthusiastic, she crushes it straigh away in the front of her mouth, it’s more like she attacks it really😄
Different strategies I guess🤷‍♂️
You can also spot some remainings still from their hay breakfast, that is also common, it will glide down eventually😄
