Photos by @erintrieb | The LaGrange and Elkhart Counties of northern Indiana are home to the third largest Amish settlement in America—about 30,000 Amish live there. Historically, the Amish shy away from technology, work predominantly in farming or carpentry, and forgo modern amenities such as electricity, cars, and telephones. I had the rare opportunity of spending a few days with several families who invited me to see and photograph their culture and traditional way of life.
Pictured here: (1) Two boys ride their horses. (2) A group of women and children eats ice cream during a charity horse ride to raise money for the community. (3) Family members feed and water the Belgian horses they raise. (4) A farmer holds his daughter on their farm.
