Cruising around the colourful streets of Havana in a hot pink classic car 💕

One of the first things you notice as you arrive in Havana are the colourful vintage cars that line the streets. The classic car is as much of a Cuban icon as cigars, rum and Che Guevara. The streets of Cuba are like one big motor museum with Chevrolets, Buicks, Chryslers and Fords to Soviet-era Volgas and Ladas. 🚘

American cars were imported into Cuba for about 50 years, beginning near the early 20th century. After the Cuban Revolution, the U.S. embargo was erected and Castro banned the importation of American cars and mechanical parts. That’s why Cuba is the way it is today - essentially a living museum for classic cars! 🚗
