My chronic need to optimize would never guarantee complete safety because there are simply too many uncontrollable variables.⁣ ⁣ I had to learn how to let go. ⁣ ⁣ It became very apparent how closely fear and love are related. When you care about someone so much, you want to protect them at all costs. It's fear of losing who and what you love. If I didn't love it, then I wouldn't give a flying furk what happened. It made me empathize with Umma and how difficult it must have been to experience this. Many parents do. ⁣ ⁣ Now, I actually enjoy hearing my parents nag at me, reminding me to do a task that I know I should have completed already. It comes from a place of deep love. Their concern is a way they show their love.⁣ For some parents it's the only way they know how to show their love. ⁣ This year, my postpartum anxiety finally lifted its sticky grip from me, I've relaxed into this new version of myself. Seeing my son grow older each day as been life's most generous gift.
