Anji SALZさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Anji SALZInstagram)「Last week we celebrated the little bean’s 100 day anniversary / the first meal - an ancient Japanese tradition dating back to the Heian period (794 to 1185) 🌾 Wishing for the child to „always have enough to eat for life“ the ritual of okuizome (お食い初め) imitates consumption of a meal set. Of course, babies between 100-120 days can’t eat solid food yet, so the prepared foods will just be held in front of the mouth of the baby for a moment to imitate the action 😍😇 It is also said that teeth will start growing after 100 days of age. The meal shall consist of sea bream 🐟, soup 🥣, steamed vegetables 🥕, red bean mochi rice 🍚 and pickles. On the side it’s preferred to also use celebratory chopsticks and tap with them on a stone, to hope for strong teeth 🦷 The celebration is supposed to be conducted by the oldest person in the house / for girls it’s supposed to be done by a woman, so my mother in law did it 😍 for both girls actually. And the lacquer ware dishes are red on the inside for girls.
