You don't have to get wet to celebrate and learn about what scientists call "the lungs of the planet" on World Oceans Day, which was established to create awareness of the major role the oceans play in the life of the planet. An aquarium is a great place to learn about seas and their inhabitants, and Japan has more aquariums per capita than any other nation. It's not surprising that fish hold a special fascination for residents of this country of islands. All things aquatic are part of its cultural lifeblood.
