In an epic 140 minutes, it tells the true story of Giwar Hajabi, the child of a composer, who flees with his parents from Iran to Germany in the mid-1980s. To defend himself against bullying, he gets trained by a boxer and slips into crime. After a robbery of a gold transporter, Giwar ends up in prison, where he secretly records his first album. As Xatar, he becomes one of the most successful German rappers. At last, the legendary Rheingold, which became the cause of murder, betrayal, and incest in Richard Wagner’s opera cycle The Ring of the Nibelung, has led to a happy ending – and as well to a big step in Emilio Sakraya’s career. Born in Berlin in 1996 to a Moroccan mother and a Serbian father, Sakraya is currently one of the most successful and eye-catching young German artists. This is not only due to his leading role in Rheingold, but also to his own music, and his immaculate personal style. In April, he presented his current album 1996 on a sold-out tour. Another album and an even bigger tour have been announced for next year. ZOO Magazine had the utmost pleasure of having an insightful conversation with Sakraya at the end of March, and the insights strikingly voiced by Sakraya’s smooth vocals are sure to be invigorating– a creative breath of fresh air.
