"This is a step that helps loosen up old pigment in the hair before a lightening service. You can see some of it coming off in that swipe. We had done multiple rounds of level 3 demi color and now we were wanting to achieve level 8-9 highlights. I still had some banding (which I had to reapply bleach on every section) even after letting the color remover process for about 45 minutes under heat. But doing this step ensures that I deal with the least amount of resistance when trying to get a clean even lift."
