Last year my Father celebrated his 95th birthday. We had been estranged for over four decades but reunited a couple years ago (mostly over zoom) because of COVID. When I asked my dad what he wanted for his 95th birthday he said he didn’t want presents, but wanted my “presence” at his birthday gig in Minneapolis. It was truly a gift I couldn’t have imagined. We hadn’t played together for nearly 50 years so the chance to sit down and have a long musical conversation with him was in his words “euphoric.” I documented this once in a lifetime event and shared with him as a Father’s Day gift 🎁 but also shared with a few close friends I thought would understand. My dad has a song called “Put the world back together again”.
