トームさんのインスタグラム写真 - (トームInstagram)「The two new shows at #Sutton #Melbourne propose a conversation between legend and all time favorite #GordonBennett and my new obsession #MiaBoe #repost @suttongallerymelbourne We are excited to announce Mia Boe's exhibition 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, opening on Saturday 24 June, alongside a Gordon Bennett exhibition 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘐𝘴 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘔𝘺 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦, curated by Tim Riley Walsh. In 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, Mia Boe looks at contemporary Myanmar with a particular focus on the country’s notorious Insein penitentiary, and the covert and overt modes of surveillance employed by the Burmese junta. This series builds upon her ongoing engagement with carceral systems and their imbrication with Empire. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mia Boe is a painter from Brisbane with Butchulla and Burmese ancestry. The inheritance and disinheritance of both cultures is the focus of her practice.
