Protests Continue in France as Officer Who Fatally Shot Teen Is Detained on Homicide Charges

A police officer who shot and killed a teenage driver, setting off rioting in French cities, was detained on Thursday on charges of voluntary homicide.

The killing has reignited anger in France at police violence, especially against people of color. On Thursday, after two nights of violent protests, riot police officers fired tear gas to break up a march being held for the slain 17-year-old.
