Only now science is catching up to the seemingly mystical benefits of breathwork. Right now, as you read and I write this, we are only breathing with 33% lung capacity which means we are not fully taking in "life force" - oxygen into the body. Many of us don't breathe with our diaphragm as we did as children. This forgotten fundamental layer of our well-being is something every doctor will check on when you are sick - are you breathing ok? Every instructor in any class will cue the breath in and out and remind us to breathe more. The truth is we need a lot more oxygen, so we need to practice breathing techniques and patterns that allow us to discover the breath's full potential.
