En quête d’avantages financiers pour son fils Pomponio, il accepte l’invitation du pape Paul III Farnèse et de son petit-fils, le cardinal Alexandre. - 🖼️ L’artiste, âgé d’une soixantaine d’années, est chargé de peindre un tableau qui légitime la politique dynastique menée par le pape. Pour cette commande, il représente le pape avec ses petits-fils. Mais l’œuvre reste inachevée. - ✍️ Elle reste sans cadre durant presque 100 ans. Ce n’est qu’en 1653 que le tableau a droit à un cadre et au rideau de taffetas vert qui était destiné à protéger les œuvres importantes.
