Akeo Minamikawa, aka, 鍵盤ハーモニカ奏者南川朱生 / ピアノニマス（pianonymous） gave me this opportunity, supported my study and offered her Melodicas to me. My purpose is that I wanted to make sure an effectiveness by sizing slots on reed plates with a melodica. Sizing slots? What is this? and How does it work? We can see little spaces between a reed and a slot on a reedplate. Sometimes I feel maker products has too much spaces and sometimes it imposes a strain on my breathing. So I often make a custom harmonicas. It has much more smaller size of slots to get more comfortable. In custom harmonica world or customizers, It's called a “emboss” or “sizing slots”. In the event, it can get more airtightness, more loud and more smooth bending notes. The basic idea is that the response of a reed tends to be quick with increasing high air pressures through super-slight space. So I wanted to test the effect of the sizing slots on Melodica.
