Throughout my career, it’s been hard to separate my identity as a swimmer and the woman I am away from the pool. Often, I have let my results determine my worth to the point I didn’t know who I was or what I stood for.
This came to a head in 2020 when the world went quiet, and I struggled to know who Madi Wilson was as a woman, away from the pool. 2020 was one of the toughest years of the life. I struggled with eating disorders and mental health issues, struggling to find myself as a woman when all I could see was myself as the swimmer. I put in a lot of work to be where I am today, and I’m so proud to lead the Australian Dolphin’s and help create an environment where each of my teammates know their worth.
Now, I’m able to #FaceTheWorld confident, happy and healthy in who I am. That’s why I’m super excited to be a part of #TeamCetaphil, a collective group of women encouraging everyone to show up and love every part of who they are and what they do.
