ANA.IC.MANZA.BEACH.RESORTさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ANA.IC.MANZA.BEACH.RESORTInstagram)「40周年のアニバーサリーを迎えたANAインターコンチネンタル万座ビーチリゾート✨ 木曜日は#TBT。「今」と「昔」の写真とともに、万座の歴史を皆さまにお伝えしています。今週は、万座ビーチの大人気マリンアクティビティ「サブマリンJr.（ジュニア）」についてご紹介します。サブマリンJr.は、1988年7月に展望室の側面にガラスパネルを配置した、日本初の半潜水艦型グラスボートとして就航しました。船底に貼り付けられたガラスを上から覗き込むグラスボートとは違い、真横から美しいサンゴ礁や色鮮やかな熱帯魚を観察することができる、新たなアクティビティとして人気を集めました。完全に海中に潜水することなく、潜水艦体験を生み出すことからサブマリンJr.と名付けられたそうです。初代サブマリンJr.は、27年間運行し、約100万人のお客さまにご利用いただきました。運行総距離は約50万キロ、直線距離で地球の約12周分に相当します。 2015年12月、その役目は二代目となる現在の「サブマリンJr.Ⅱ」に引き継がれました。初代サブマリンJr.と同じく、愛らしい見た目と、側面から海中を観察できることはもちろん、より海中が見えるよう大きな窓を配し、席数を23席から40席に増設。一度により多くのお客さまが乗船いただけるようになりました。水に濡れることなく、小さなお子さまからご高齢の方まで安心して乗船いただけるサブマリンJr.Ⅱは、これからも沖縄の自然豊かな海の世界へお客さまをお連れします。次回の #TBT もお楽しみに♡ Celebrating 40th anniversary at ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort✨ Every Thursday on #TBT, we showcase the history of Manza with "now" and "then" photos. This week, let's talk about Submarine Jr., one of our popular activities! Submarine Jr. was launched in July 1988 as Japan's first semi-submarine-type glass boat with glass panels on the sides of the observation deck. Unlike glass boats, which allow passengers to look through glass panels affixed to the bottom of the boat, Submarine Jr. gained popularity as a new activity that allows passengers to observe beautiful coral reefs and colorful tropical fish from right beside the boat. It was named Submarine Jr. because it creates a submarine experience without being completely submerged underwater. The first Submarine Jr. had operated for 27 years and welcomed about 1 million passengers. The total distance it traveled was approximately 500,000 kilometers, which is equivalent to almost twelve laps around the earth. In December 2015, the Submarine Jr. was retired and replaced with the current Submarine Jr. II. Just like the first one, it has the same adorable appearance and side view of the underwater world, but with a larger window for better viewing and an increased number of seats from 23 to 40 to accommodate more passengers at one time. Submarine Jr. II welcomes everyone from small children to the elderly without getting wet, continues to take passengers into the rich natural world of the Okinawan sea today.
