“Hi, we’re Flyana Boss, and we want to wish hip-hop a happy 50th.”

“We’re a bestie rap duo, but we’re also pop stars. Every genre, we believe, has been influenced by hip-hop. It’s the motherland! So, it’s only right we pull from and rep them, too,” says Folayan and Bobbi, who together make up @flyanaboss (Flyana Boss).

“Shout out Missy, she’s our queen. Shout out to all the hip-hop OGs we’ve ever referenced. Shout out to Nelly, to Onika Maraj and ALL the greats. We wouldn’t be us without you. We’re building on everything that came before. And we want to inspire others to chase their dreams with a true love, true friend right beside them.”

The duo’s track “You Wish” and signature running videos have taken them viral, resonating particularly with a Black girl audience, and have helped carry forward the legacy of women of hip-hop.

“We should be celebrating the women of hip-hop! We feel like they’re unsung heroes who have ALWAYS been a part of the story and they haven’t always got the shine that they’re due. So, cheers to all those who paved the way for us to be here doing what we do. We are SO blessed and appreciative.”
