But also grateful that you showed me how colourful life can be. Daniel Dreifuss, founder of Maurice de Mauriac, left us on Friday after a long illness. This makes me and many other people very sad. But mourning also triggers many memories and images in my mind. Memories of a great person. Of a doer. A visionary. Never resting, always on the go. Daniel not only gave us time. He also brought colour into our lives. And into our hearts. Wild and colourful he was, with a huge heart. Talking to Daniel, discussing with him, was like a wild ride on a roller coaster. You had to be highly concentrated to keep up with his pace, but what you could learn from him, take away from him, was priceless. He was a jack-of-all-trades who never seemed to rest, but still loved, lived and enjoyed life. Daniel Dreifuss leaves behind not only watches. A slogan that Maurice de Mauriac once had was "We sell time" or something similar. His legacy is the time we were allowed to spend with him.
