As stated at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2015, “Indigenous peoples have known for thousands of years how to care for our planet. The rest of us have a lot to learn and no time to waste.” Traditionally, Indigenous hunters, gatherers and fishermen took only what they needed, used all that they took, and gave thanks for the bounty. They consider themselves not to be owners of the land, but stewards with the responsibility to preserve the land and its resources for future generations.
