In another treat from the ELLE DECOR archive, we revisit Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s (@martynbullard) historic Los Angeles home. The 2,800-square-foot 1922 Mediterranean villa is in Whitley Heights, one of Los Angeles’s first celebrity enclaves. Previous tenants have included silent-film icons Rudolph Valentino and Gloria Swanson. Later, novelist William Faulkner wrote screenplays on the balcony off what is now Bullard’s primary bedroom. And glamorous reminders of the past still haunt the place: here in the kitchen, the cabinetry and wall tiles are original to the house, and the O’Keefe & Merritt stove was installed in the 1930s by Swanson herself.
