Gauff secured her first-ever Grand Slam title Saturday with her win at the 2023 US Open, only her second-ever Grand Slam final. The other was at the 2022 French Open, in which Gauff said she thinks she spent too much time the night before envisioning holding that trophy. The 19-year-old didn't want that to happen this time around, so the night before her US Open final, the tennis star said she called up her boyfriend. "You know, I thought about it, but I told myself to get it out of my head, because that's what I did at French," she told reporters after the match. "Last night, I started a little bit, but honestly, I just called my boyfriend, and I told him let's talk until it's time to go to sleep so we spoke until 1:00 a.m. and then I went to sleep."
