Have you ever gazed up at the ceiling of a building? 
Sometimes, you can discover new aspects of its architectural charm by doing so.

Consider the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan in Ueno, a building erected in 1961 to commemorate Tokyo's 500th anniversary and symbolise postwar reconstruction. The theatre stands among Tokyo's most iconic structures and was crafted by Kunio Mayekawa, a disciple of Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. One remarkable feature is its ceiling at the entrance, which is adorned with a random arrangement of lights against a deep blue backdrop to resemble a starry sky 🌌

建物の天井を見上げてみたことはありますか？
少し意識をして天井の造形を見てみると、その建築の魅力を新しく発見できるもしれません。

今回訪れたのは、上野にある東京文化会館。
1961年、東京都開都500年を記念すると共に「戦後復興の象徴」という意図も込められて建設された、東京を代表する名建築です。
劇場の設計はル・コルビュジエの弟子であった前川國男氏が手がけました。
照明がランダムに配置されたエントランスロビーの天井は星空をモチーフにしており、その深みのある青色は「成層圏ブルー」とも称されています🌌
