The flowing ribbons and bows, openwork rinceaux and charming asymmetrical compositions of 18th century decorative arts translated particularly well into jewellery, and Köchert—one of the oldest jewellers in Austria—created countless variations on this theme. Sotheby’s specialist Andres White Correal and jewellery historian Vincent Meylan highlight a tiara by Köchert from the collection of Princess Maria Immaculata (1844-1899), which was gifted to her from Emperor Franz Josef.
