SAVE this post for when you may need to implement these tactics! ✅ Last week I found myself in a really negative headspace - it wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last! I’m human. 🤪 The most important thing is to not let it snowball once the problem is recognized. Having tools like this to reach for when needed is major key 🔑.

📓 Practice GRATITUDE. Journaling or making a simple list of 3 things you are grateful for or feeling positive about and actually writing them down to start each day can really help pull attention away from negative thoughts and on to positive ones.

😴 REST. A lot of times for me these negative tailspins come when I am overly tired and my body and mind need a break. When feeling overwhelmed about an event it may seem like rest is the last thing you should do (insert: “I need to do more!” panic feelings lol) - but 1 step backwards can lead to 2 steps forward. Carve out time for physical and mental rest.

🔭 ADJUST THE LENS. When I’m feeling overwhelmed/stressed/negative it often is because I am looking at the problem from too big of a viewpoint. Honing in on bite sized problems that could be tackled will help take steps towards gaining momentum on the overall goal. Take the time to analyze and create some broken down small goals, instead of thinking about the big goal that seems daunting.

🤸🏼‍♂️ DO SOMETHING FUN. Puzzles, read, walk, go to the movies. Engage in any activity unrelated to whatever is stressing you out so you can mentally remove yourself from the cycle of thoughts and interrupt it with something else.

👯‍♀️ LEAN ON PEOPLE. Talk to people in your circle that care about you and tell them you are struggling. For me, just admitting I am having a difficult time can sometimes be super freeing and allow me the grace to trudge through it easier.

🧘🏼‍♀️ CENTER ON WHY. Focusing in on why you want to reach your goals, and going back to the big picture can help you zone in and find motivation to keep pushing forward instead of being self critical about what may be going wrong.

This is just scratching the surface, but hope this will help some people to share how I reset when I get in a funk!
